SHIT!

Man! How frustrating! Someone beat us to the punch...like back in 19-fucking-60! I shoulda just ebayed this thing and ripped off the design....ah well! :)

Also, I can always count on the gang at Ga-forum.com to keep me laughin! Check it out:

Dying to see CHILDREN OF MAN as well as PAN'S LABRYNTH...hear they are both amazing. Maybe this week? Hope so!

So hey, we did press for CALLING ALL CARS yesterday with 1up.com (for the show)...from what I gather, that airs this Friday on 1up.com. It was lots of fun watching them play the game (they SEEMED to like it and they gave me some great feedback, but you can never tell if a journo really digs what they are playing ((when they play it in front of you)) till they write about it...so, fingers crossed!)...Luke and Kathleen also asked some refreshing hardball questions. I was stunned by them; not bothered, I liked them. I appreciated them. But it was so surprising that I kind of had to switch gears and I think you can see me doing it ON CAMERA...looking foward to how it all plays out.

Also, just got done with a video chat interview with my buddy Brady from PLAY magazine. Loves me the PLAY magazine...feels like old DIEHARD GAMEFAN! (and it should, since it's published by the same guy)...it's like a very, very glossy love letter to video games...I love how they champion games that may not be the world's most polished but still get behind the unique ideas within those games (i.e. ADVENT RISING).

So Brady played it, seemed to dig the game as well and they- from what I gather- may be doing a feature on the game for the next issue (the one that comes out in February)!

Brady asked how I felt about working on a game that may not appeal to current gamers who are not in to straight up fun, arcade style games...we talked about how this game appeals to those gamers- like me- who are older and still love games but do not have the time to devote hours upon hours to play...never REALLY thought about it as I always work on stuff that I would want to play...but now he's got me wondering: will today's gamers show up for these kinds of games? And are there adults who still love games who still want to game but are LOOKING for smaller action games?!?! We will see! I hope so!

But both interviews were a blast to do...so sweet...getting the word out there!

Ok, gotta get back to work! Talk to ya'll later!

David

  2. Just read on GameSpot about you 'chiming' in on the Warhawk issue, when will people shut up and leave rumors for what they are, rumors...

Anyway, seeing as my PS3 fun took a turn for the worse (curse thee college and insane prices for books), i won't be able to purchase a PS3 for a while. So with that said, take your time with calling all cars :)

  3. Can you stil get in trouble with copyright issues even though the board game is so old? I am sure Sony could help you out either way.

It was great seeing you on the NeoGaf forums clearing up some stuff and crushing your enemys. Are you still close with people working on WarHawk? Is that how you know all of this info.

Well anyway I can't wait for this game to go up on the PSN so I can download it. Thanks for making it!

    Dear Dave

Wow I hope you can get things worked out, but while we're on the topic of licensing for names and logos, A Ghostbusters game called Time O is in development by some game development team called Zootfly and people are saying it's coming out for the 360 and pc.

But it occured to me that Sony owns the license for Ghostbuters and any likeness or anything releated to the movie will technically get Zootfly sued if I'm not mistaken???

I can't wait for The 1UP Show. Those guys at 1UP (especially Luke) always say what's on their mind, which I think is frickin' awesome! No bullshit, just the truth. In my opinion, there is no better way to work in journalism. And I think people like you, who openly embrace these tough questions, should be given like an award or something for not being afraid to take on that challenge.

Hey Dave! can't wait to check out the interviews (PLAY Rocks!) and The 1up SHow is AWSOME! I saw Pan's Labrynth last week, definitely a MUST SEE!

Calling All Cars sounds like it's coming along nicely, can't wait to get my hands on it.

Looking forwar to checking out your chat that's on 1up yours. (this Friday correct).

I'm one of those older gamers. I do devote countless hours to some epic games but sometimes you just want to pick up and play something to kill a half hour then be done with it.

I'm liking some of the downloads. I'm all over the Lemmings...talk about retro, but the enhansments look nice on my 1080p Bravia. I'm also looking forward to CAC and Flow as well.

Let's take Flow for example, it's so basic and simple but the first time I played it on the PC it drew me right in.

I do think there is an huge market for the "Download, Pick up and Play" content and I'm glad it's being championed by talented people rather than just tossing some cheap crap out to see if someone bites.

  12. Haha, thanks for putting up the edited photo I made. Looking forward to Calling all Cars (funny fact: A node to that game can be found on myResistance.net as one of the main boards is called 'Calling all Clans'). Keep it up.

Unfortunately I think at some point in time it may become less lucrative to make games with yourself as a target audience... and I think perhaps Calling All Cars' success depends on whether you can make this game appeal to people outside of your demographic.

You need to think... if you were NOT in the game industry... would you have purchased a PS3? especially if the types of games that you were interested in playing were simple gameplay focused titles like Calling All Cars looks to be?

I do think it is important for PS3 to have a variety of titles in all different styles of play... from casual all the way up to the hardcore games... and this game fills an important niche in the systems library. Only time will tell... I wish you the best of luck!
