CALLING ALL CARS SOUNDTRACK

Well, if you can call it a soundtrack!

It's only 4 songs, but hey, the game is only $9.99! What do you want for 10 bucks ya cheap bastards?!?!

Anyway, check it out when you get some time:
http://myspace.com/callingallcarsgame

We put the first 4 songs of the 5 song soundtrack online.

I totally realize it won't be everyone's cup of tea as it's:

a- a very cartoony game
b- has a bit more TWANG than any other game I've ever worked on.

But this music works GREAT for the game I feel; a great sense of the silly/slapstick/kinetic vibe we are going for.

Hope you enjoy it!

Back to tuning!

David

  2. Right on track with the music...it does lend itself perfectly to the game and helps push the cartoony vibe. Whats that laquer dude trying to say?? And why the whole "I'm first!" its a blog comment good grief!

  3. They are all pretty catchy except I don't like particularly like Trainyard. However, it does still fit with the theme so good job. I plan to get a PS3 eventually, but I'm kind of glad that I don't right now, because I'd definitely be having money troubles seeing as how easy and cheap it is to download/buy these kinds of games these days. I'd end up buying a lot of these great sounding games impulsively. The only reason I'm not buying games right at this moment is because I just don't think it's convenient for me to go out specifically to spend 40 dollars on a time-waster. Anyways, good job again.

  4. Hey Dave,

I'm digging the City track, same one from the trailer if I'm not mistaken. I think the other tracks will sound better with the sound effects mixed in.

City track is my new myspace song lol...YES, ima dork!

    2 Q's DAVE:
Are you coming up to SF for GDC?
and DO you have a release date for CAC?

  5. Good stuff! Sounds fun and up beat, definitely seems to suit the game.

And even though I hate myspace, I still have an account and sent the CallingAllCars page a friend's invite :p

Woah, the Bob Crumb influence is REALLY thick on the floor isn't it?

Which is fine with me, I love Bob Crumb.

  9. I'll check out the songs when I get home as I can't get on Myspace at work.

Any chance of us seeing a demo for CAC on PSN? I'll be buying it anyway, but a demo wouldn't hurt.

  10. Nice music - from what I've seen of the gameplay, it fits the mood/theme well.

Can't wait for the games to start rolling out on PS3 - Motorstorm and CAC in March!

    Dave,

Didn't know what to think until I listened but now I'm hooked. It's just catchy stuff.

You're right, its just the right mix of music flavors to make some good tunes. Best thing is I won't go nuts listening to it over and over again while I'm playing CAC.

The city track is good. Haven't had a chance to listen to the rest.
Personally, I think the intro is...kinda cheesy, even for a game that looks like cheese is kind of the aim. But the rest of the tune is great.

You should bring Gerard Marino in to do some stuff for it! That stuff would be amazing!...although, I don't think it would quite mix with the game...

  15. The music is great! Very Carl Stalling and Raymond Scott crossed with some blue-grass. Who was the composer?

It really has that keystone cops feeling, doesn't it. Trainyards brings to mind a long famous quote from a good ol movie...."Boy you sure got a perrrty mouth".

  17. All we need is some Acme products and we're set.

But I enjoy the music, different then all the epic pieces and hard rock out there that make up a soundtrack. Glad to see a loony, crazy, catchy soundtrack. I think its awesome.

Thats some super music choices there~! They seem to go hand in hand with the look of the game. The gameplay of this game has intrigued me for some time, and I can sense release getting closer and closer. See ya online all, hit me up with a PSN invite @ BFrosty.

BFrosty, Playstation Underground Mod, all around cool guy~!

  23. hey... im not going to lie.. originally i was a little baffled by the music, when i saw it in the trailer.

but that music GROWS on you. i love the trainyard song! well actually, i like all the ones you posted. which is odd because originally i didnt like that style too much.

hopefully most people feel the same way as i do, in that they come to love it. music is a pretty damn important part of a game's identity.

one thing is for sure... original music beats out a licensed sountrack of "popular" songs of the day... ANY TIME.

oh, and on an unrelated note.. God of War on PSP!!!! it had better not just be a port though, that would be a major dissappointment. but with Ready at Dawn working on it (im almost positive), the same people who made daxter, the original game based on the jak and daxter series, i have HIGH HIGH hopes.. give us a scoop ASAP.
