Saw Jumper a few days after it came out. It had some pretty cool scenes but the ending just didn't feel right to me...kinda felt like you sat there watching for 2 hours or whatever and your still in the same boat as you were 10 minutes in. I would say its worth going to see still. If ya end up watching it let us know know what ya think :)
I hope the live broadcast works out; I'm certainly excited. But as we all know the Internet is a not exactly a place known for .... what's the word im looking for ... moderation.
Ya I think the live video streaming is a great idea. The only problem is the time zones. I for one would like to talk to you but since your in Utah (I'm in Cali) for me to talk I'd have to be at some specific time. But other than that it'll be pretty sweet.
I honestly think it would be a great idea....Ive always felt you were a real down to earth guy and I love listening to people like that, main reason why I love to listen to the 1up Yours and the Sports Anomaly podcasts.
Yeah man that stickam thing was cool, thinking about bringing my old cam into the office here and hooking it up and maybe getting in on some of the discussions. Maybe show some of the PS3 stuff I am working on... actually probably not. Might get in trouble.
What did you guys think of that Ark of the Covenant being found article? The guy seems somewhat legit if you watch the interview but he does have a book out and more than likely trying to jack up the sales.
With TM-PS3 coming out are you worried you got with a studio that is just a one trick pony? Don't get me wrong they make great racing games, but how will racing games stack up to all these other great genres?
I loved God of War, but unfortunately that's the only game I've played of yours. I guess I'm just worried you don't have the team that matches your genius.
Also, hopefully you have some new artists with original ideas...unlike some clowns that were ripped off.
jackred666=noob not you again just stay out of this i will be honest with you i highly dislike you taking my name throwing in some crap and once again call me a spammer I got news for you if i was i wouldn't be on here in the first place and second this happen to me before on Myspace stop what you are doing right now.
Hey David, I think its a good idea, I'd like to see what you have to say and see why the FREAK is it hard for an "entry level" modeler to get a freakin' job!!! HEHE!! Hope the live cast thing goes well!! PEACE!
Cool idea, but just know that there are a ton of assholes on stickam who are just there to harass/annoy other people (especially the females). There's always somebody that spams the chat with garbage. You can have moderators to kick/ban people out, but it's incredibly easy to get around that.
LOOK DAVE THERE HE GOES AGAIN. ALREADY COMMENTED THIS POST 4 TIMES. WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF HE GETS IT TO 50. JUST LOOK WHAT HE DOES ON THE TWISTED METAL FORUMS.
hey Jaffe!!!! just found ur blog from that website.. thought id com over and say hi.
i like this video thing but can you get better people than someone from PLAY? cmon your Jaffe! maybe cliffyB? he's sooo coool but not like you. you keep the same haircut ;) am i the only one to find it sad that he needs a fohawk to fit in?!? Peace man.
This is great idea, but I agree (with the above posters) you need to get some big names in here or whats the point? It'll kinda be weak - like kymnbel's portfolio ;)
And as for Haberlin? Dude just wait to see TM on PS3 before you call it a 1 trick pony. From what David's said it should at least sell 1/3 of what Halo 3 did...
Also, Jack you really should just post once or twice were all fans here :)
I personally really like these sorts of things where people in the industry talk. I listen to podcasts all the time, and I really enjoy hearing things about development of games and answering questions about games. The podcast that I've been listening to religiously is the kojima report.
Just hearing about the game as it is being made and answer fan questions is purely awesome. A live video of something like that could be cool too...
Holy crap, Jaffe took my suggestion! I love your games, and look forward to your next release (Hoping it's another one in the Black franchise, but another traditional Twisted Metal would be awesome, too)!
that sounds like a really great idea! I'd definitely check out the live stream. Seems like a great way to stimulate some interesting convo on games.
not sure if stick cam allows for this, but in case some of us miss out on the stream, would it be possible to record the session and then have it posted on your blog for later viewing?
have a good weekend!
-D
>PS. Jumper was alright. It's entertaining enough, but the plot and dialogue could have used some more work, and it leaves some questions open...
Haha, watched the interview with Keighley... sucks that you lost $100, but give yourself more credit about being known. Kutaragi did say something along the lines of, "He is my best designer" haha.
Sorry haven't posted in a while, but read over at Neogaf about you moving to Utah and becoming a Mormon? They also said your wife (they used the name Emiko) wasn't going with you?
Hey, can you please resend that link as it doesn't take me to any story regarding me moving...I wanna see it since I have no plans to move ANYWHERE and would love to see what this is all about :)
Sounds awesome, but if you want people to listen you might want to end up recording it, so people who miss out because of timezone, work, forgetfulness whatever can view it. I know a lot of people (including myself) who listen to these type of things in their car or on an ipod while they are doing something else.
Defiantly awesome to talk to such an icon like you LIVE! Lets just hope that all the kinks are worked out when you start the live broadcasts b/c last time you tested it was pretty laggy and such. All in all... a awesome idea. Have a GREAT weekend Jaffe!
I was recently listening to the Soundtrack that came with the game and I'm loving it.
I have a question, where is Sweet Tooth's theme? The one that is played in the back of "Greatest of All Time"? It is soo epic, but i would love it without the voiceover as well!
Here is what I'm talking about: http://youtube.com/watch?v=KLEP0kUIrcA
This is my first time to write in your blog, I wanted to ask you a couple of questions. This has been on my mind for like a week and I thought it would be awsome if I asked this to you. These questions might feel a bit random and stupid, but here you go.
1) What do you think about MGS4, are you a fan and will you be picking it up in launch day June 12.
2) Sony just announced Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots 80GB PS3 bundle, what do you think of it and do you think this will increase sells for the PS3.
Thats it Dave and hope you respond to these questions. Thanks
hey dave, i think the live video would be awesome - pod casting rules hands down, a couple of my friends have their own podcasting and they talk mainly about comics - http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=120605198
I've always enjoyed listening to them -I'm a sucker for talk radio too. So definetly go forth with this idea and I hope it works out great. I did have a question/thought, if you did end up putting this on a different site, would it be possible for the fans/subscribers to video blog your blogs back or would be able to just type?
I'm not too sure about the live video thing. My only real issue is when? If I'm in another meeting online then I wouldn't be able to see it. If you had a DL copy to watch after than that would be cool.
About Jumper. It wasn't great but it didn't totally suck. For a matinee it was ok for $14 for me and my kid. She thought it was OK as well. Sort of reminded me of a tv pilot movie.
Hey jaffe im new at this site and your the best.I really one to see the live broadcast. I hope it works out I have been playing Twisted metal all my life.Thank you so much for making what I love and same with other fans Twisted metal. Thank you.
Hey there Dave, I am Rex, I posted some comments before and also I am one of the guys in the twisted metal head on posted pictures in this blog page. You inspired me to be more passionate into my job (where ocassionally I get to design some promotional/ticket contest web games) and I merged a car game I did with a Missile Command type of game I was working on and created something kind of cool, basic, easy to play but requires skill. Here is the link: http://especiales.primerahora.com/promociones/wsgame/ The idea is to give away 10 concert tickets (of 2 rap singers...) for the 5 highest scores. You play, you get a highscore you register it. But Also you can collect diamonds so you can go to a shop area and buy other cars... one of these cars is a SWEETTOOTH tribute (I did a montage of it last saturday and it looked kind of cool), but is hard to get and the required diamonds is a mystery (666 actually), the password for it is: tmetal so you can try it, since all the instructions are in spanish you only need to use the mouse to shoot and arrow keys to move. I jsut wanted to share my work jsut to have an opinion of you. Right now many agencies overhere liked the game (and an earlier one I did Gradius type) it and they want me to do more games (I do them all bymself concept, graphic, animation, programming, editing, all pain in the ass but like it) but hte games they want is well promotional.. so I cannot get satanic with them. OH well here is my email rex_cartagena@hotmail.com or post on my blog , let me know if anything take care! PS - I was actually playing Twisted Metal 2 when I was doing some programming during breaks.
Hey David, I don't know whose idea it was to release the soundtrack to some of the Twisted Metals but GOOD IDEA!!! MAN!!! I LOVE IT! TALK ABOUT RIPPING MEMORIES OUT OF THE DEEPEST PARTS OF MY BRAIN!!!! WOW!! GOOD IDEA! TELL THE PERSON IN CHARGE OF THIS IDEA THANK YOU!!!
I just started using FLIXN, as well, but it seems they are canceling their general, free video service. Have you had any additional thoughts about what other video service you might switch to? I really like the simplistic nature of FLIXN but haven't found anything similar. Any ideas?
I like watching your video blogs (vlogs?) and would definitely watch your video podcasts (vodcasts?). I suppose there just needs to be a system to prevent you from reading user's comments while trying to speak, maybe open a Q&A at the end? Also, keep it short. There's too many podcasts out there that go on forever and become a real time investment to listen to.
Surprised by the way your voting. As a small business owner and his recent comments about getting the video games out of children's hands. Wow, just wow. It's like you want to be pushed out of business.
I am much more concerned with the fate of the country, the troops dying overseas for no reason, and more of the same bullshit in D.C. that has kept our country in the shit house for the last 8 years.
I don't vote with my wallet, I vote with my heart.
Jaffe, just do a system like Opie and Anthony have with 'instant feedback'. People can send text comments to you while you are live and you can comment on the ones that catch your eye. That way, it isn't invasive, and you still get the interaction.
Hey dave, the live video streaming sounds really cool. I'm starting to listen to podcasts, and interviews, and video blogs now, and I can't get enough of them!
Right now the window for the live video streaming is sort of broke, I don't know if that's just with firefox or if it will get fixed when you guys finally do the thing but just letting you know.
I don't think it would be boring at all, we come to your blog to listen to you blab lol, though that's probably not the right word to use.
Anyway, looking forward to your next blog, and whatever games your working on.
If the problem with the window is that the sides are sort of getting chopped off, you can fix that by clicking the button that says popout, which is thankfully within the frame - should fix it. It's been happening to me in firefox/IE too, so I know your pain. :P
-Spoons
PS. What's Obama been saying against games? I did a quick search and all the video-games related stuff he's said so far seems pretty mild compared to most of the other candidates. Then again, I don't really keep abreast of US politics. Too much lying. :/
u know twisted metal was fun and everything. But y would you kick jackred off ur forum. I mean dont u want peoples opinions. and y the fuck r u starting a forum for such a old fucking game. Suck my gigantic penis bc i bet ur good at it. Twist some metal around that shit bitch. Enjoy that jackred=noob. THERE YOU GO JACK!!!!! I got ur back man. U dont need some bullshit like that hurtin ur feelings man. Oh and im not jack. But i know him as a gamer and he knows a thing or two about gaming. So i think u could use a opinion like his about gaming.

ReplyDeleteYou should have a movie get-together sometime for all in the SD area to meet up with you!
Enjoy your weekend!
hi jaffe this is my first time to write in your blog and i have some ideas about Twisted metal ( if you intend to do it on ps3 )
ReplyDelete1) i want to see sweettooth car from inside as gran tourismo 5
2)i want drivers to fight and to talk to each other during side to side contact
thanks for reading
gladiator you can't do that he told me on the blog chat that's illegal.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea Dave nice meeting you and have a great weekend too.
Sounds cool. Please record it for us in completely different timezones.
ReplyDeleteDon't need to see them to know that they will entertain and instigate thought. Look forward to them.

ReplyDeleteWOuld the StickCam be an interactive thing? Let's give it a try!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I saw your interview with Jeff K... I used to love that guys show, but now he annoys me... he looks like he belongs in a boy band.
You pulled his string like a marionette... he had no idea how to respond to some of your answers! Well played Mr. J.

I honestly think it would be a great idea....Ive always felt you were a real down to earth guy and I love listening to people like that, main reason why I love to listen to the 1up Yours and the Sports Anomaly podcasts.
ReplyDeleteTwisted Metal rules Dave.
ReplyDeleteYou are really a cool guy to talk to and to think i'm like that where ever i'm on the web.
ReplyDeleteSounds pretty cool. I personally find behind the scenes type video game talk interesting, looking forward to see how it turns out.
ReplyDeleteYou should def give it a shot. With you i doubt the 30 mins or an hour would be boring.
ReplyDeleteYeah man that stickam thing was cool, thinking about bringing my old cam into the office here and hooking it up and maybe getting in on some of the discussions. Maybe show some of the PS3 stuff I am working on... actually probably not. Might get in trouble.

I personally really like these sorts of things where people in the industry talk. I listen to podcasts all the time, and I really enjoy hearing things about development of games and answering questions about games. The podcast that I've been listening to religiously is the kojima report.

ReplyDeleteI agree delriach. Although until there's more substance to this "new TM on PS3" thing I don't know what we'll all chat about.
ReplyDeleteAnd unlike Kojima - Jaffe has a hard time finishing what he starts (GoW???) so we will see how long these video streaming's last.
hey jaffe!
ReplyDeletethat sounds like a really great idea! I'd definitely check out the live stream. Seems like a great way to stimulate some interesting convo on games.
not sure if stick cam allows for this, but in case some of us miss out on the stream, would it be possible to record the session and then have it posted on your blog for later viewing?

Hey Dave. Have you checked out Vimeo for uploading videos? I heard they're pretty good.
ReplyDeletevimeo.com
Gotta warn you that Jumper sucks.... Weak story, ok visuals, bad soundtrack, and horrible acting add up to really weak movie.
ReplyDeleteHaha, watched the interview with Keighley... sucks that you lost $100, but give yourself more credit about being known. Kutaragi did say something along the lines of, "He is my best designer" haha.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, go 4 it.
ReplyDeleteLonger you talk the better it is
great idea Dave, can't wait for the 1st stream to come out!
ReplyDeleteHey Dave!

Hey Dave ,
ReplyDeletedont watch Jumper! , its not a great movie ;).
well if you like a movie that has no plot , at all , then i guess you can go see it.
Sounds awesome, but if you want people to listen you might want to end up recording it, so people who miss out because of timezone, work, forgetfulness whatever can view it. I know a lot of people (including myself) who listen to these type of things in their car or on an ipod while they are doing something else.
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Looking for it to it David!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty damn excited about this, can't wait David.
ReplyDeletePS: Jumper kinda sucked
ReplyDeletecan stickam record videos?
ReplyDeletecan stickam record videos?

ReplyDeleteDefiantly awesome to talk to such an icon like you LIVE!
