I know this is a little off subject but have you played GTA IV yet? Great game if you don't cheat and you watch every cut-scene at least once.

  4. Uggh wonder if that's me your talking about? I totally understand the deal with the contracts and everything and I know you probably want to say it as much as we want to hear it. So I didn't really mean anything by it :)
Anyway I'm quite amazed that a company can produce a game that's "fun" to millions of different people around the world. I mean with all the tweaking and everything it just seems crazy that its even possible. And then you get the guys that do it with pretty much every game they touch like the Insomniac guys, Kojima, Rockstar, and I'll throw you in there even though it sounds totally ass kissy :) The Twisted Metals and GoW were damn good!

Think you are being too harsh on yourself calling it "luck" that you and Singletrac produced a classic like Twisted Metal 2. If that were so then "luck" should have led to amazing gameplay in TM3 & 4 , both of which I despise. I think you, the former Incog, and Eat Sleep Play have some intuitive link to understanding what makes great gameplay, at least the kind that appeals to certain gamers like myself. Years after their release I still have fun playing TM1, TM2, Critical Depth, Rogue Trip, TM: Black, Small Brawl, War of the Monsters and God of War.

Also being from the same generation as you I simply cannot wait for Indy. I plan on seeing it at least 3 times on the big screen.

I agree with solid sephiroth, any game where you're lead designer/director I'm going to be playing the living shit out of. I hope "THE GAME" kicks ass. And it sounds like you're excited about it. I've been playing so much of Twisted Metal over the last three or four weeks. TM1, TM2, TMB, TMSB and TMHO:ETE, I'm really, like you, falling in love with it again.

I hope Indy is good. I'm actually (I hate to admit this since I'm an aspiring filmmaker) just seeing these films for the first time. I've just seen Raiders and Temple of Doom (going to watch Last Crusade tonight) and I really like them. I'm going to have to watch them all again before I can make a final decision. The theme song is in my head 24/7.

If you have time while you're working on "the game" there's a small independent film called Amores Perros, made by Alejandro Gonzales Innaratu (guy that made Babel, this is ten times better though) (spelling?) and it's one of the best films I've ever seen. It's like a more realistic and hard core version of Pulp Fiction. I think you'd dig it, so just thought I'd tell you.

Looking forward to "the game", keep up the great work and thanks for keeping us informed.

"You call him Doctor Jones, Doll!"

if it Twisted Metal you got to have a level that lets you smash Through a.... I don’t know um 5 story building window and land on the highway. and have real car damage and be able to blow out tires. o and storms, Earthquakes, cops and FBI chase you and they attack you along with copters o you got to have Destructible environments and i mean everything -drawls- :) that be so cool.

if not i stell cant wate for this game.

    Hey Jaffe

I was wondering how tough is it to be developing with next gen toolkits? Is it a tough as other developers are saying? You guys have always pushed the envelope as far as graphics and fun go. I'm quite you'll do it again but have you ran in to something that might not be possible yet in this current first gen of games?

And Indy, what can I say! Those movies are classics.

Take care and keep up the good work.

Now thats the enthusiasm I want to see from you about Indy. Not like that last video post saying that you are more hyped up for The Mummy...

    Dear Mr. Jaffe,

This is Drakol from TheBitBag.com, the Features Editor. When would it be a good time to set up an interview via SKYPE/E-mail? Some of the questions will regard tips on how to function within a small/big team depending on your role, the future of indie developers, and story driven games. Please let me know when ever you can. Thank you for your time.

  15. sounds like the game will be a good game hopefully, but knowing you, it will pull out all the stops I'm excited!! =]

As for Indy, I cannot wait any longer!!!!!! At work, we have the Indy whip, for children of course, and it has the whip sound and main theme from Indy into a 10 second sound clip. Every time I am by there I just press it just to hear that song and like run through the store whipping everything in my path!!

What's not to be psyced about Indy...I mean come on it's been the bluprint for so many action movies since. Now were back to the real deal (or so I hope).

All I can say is for a couple of hours this 45 year old is going to be a kid all giddy and tossing fists full of popcorn during the "Hell Yeah" moments.

  17. It was really cool to have a sort of "sneak peek" into the behind the scenes business of making a game.

  20. The only Indy will suck is if George Lucas had too much say in it, which i hope is not the case!

Twisted Metal Head On/Black 2 = my favorite still.

I think it was fun because it used few or fairly simple gameplay mechanics and did them all very well. Games like Calling All Cars and the PixelJunk games also are fun because they don't try to be every big trend at once. The stick to a couple things and succeed at them.
