EXTENDED interview from Comic Con with Geoff Keighly

Here is the full on extended cut of my interview with Geoff Keighly of Gametrailers TV. I talk about Twisted, my original not used ending for GOD OF WAR 3, and other stuff. This was fun to do. I thought when it was over I had given Geoff a shit interview (which I hate doing) but people seem to dig this one. So here ya go!

  1. I love God of War 3, but I would love to play your version as well. Maybe you could do an alternate version of GOW3, kind of like they did with that Exorcist prequel. You know that shit would be profitable, and the fans would totally dig it. What say you?

  2. Great. I really like the raw, uncut versions.

Cracked up when Geoff dropped the F bomb, didn't see that coming.

  3. holy shit, Jaffe...I would have *LOVED* to play your version of God of War III...

...and even if it wasn't a game, then that shit could live on as an animated film ala Final Fantasy: Advent Children or even a comic series! You know how comics have alternate universes and storylines ;)

I would eat that shit up so fast, lol

  4. Whoa!! Whoa!! That. Sounds. Fucking. AWESOME!!

It's too bad your vision didn't make it to fruition, but I love Stig's work as well.... but WHOA!!

I saw Cory Barlog on something recently and his vision sounds similar. It's intresting that you mentioned that you guys worked together on that.

I think I'll pop in GOW II again this week.

  5. This is honestly how more interviews should go. I don't know what it is these days but it seems to me that most if not all interviews are just asking the same questions over and over again. I miss the old days when game designers could be more open and excited to talk about thier new game, then being shackled by the PR department and only able to release a little at the time.

It's refreshing to see a developer actually talking about the industry and random stuff instead of having to pimp thier game out every few seconds. Sadly there really aren't enough around anymore. I can only name a handful of other developers I'm remotely interested in hearing from because most simply sound like they are reading from a press release during interviews. Looking forward to more interviews of you, Scott, and the rest of the Twisted Metal team.

P.S.: During the Comic-con panel, someone asked if you guys were having Move or 3D, and when you said no there was a positive reaction to that and you said you'd talk more about that reaction later, just wondering what your opinon on things like 3D and Move are. Do you think they are kinda gimmicky like most of us "hardcore old school" gamers?

  6. I like MOVE a lot. I think it's a really, really good next step for motion controls. Looking forward to games like Tiger Woods, Sorcery, and family games, especially.

Kinect looks cool. If reviews are good, it's day one for me. If it works, I can see really enjoying it with my kids.

  7. I loved God of War III, but it wasn't very ambitious in terms of story and overall design. Yeah, the Titan stuff was crazy awesome, but it only took up maybe like an hour or two of total gameplay time. The rest of it was a little retreaded ground.

So yeah, I like Stig's work, but I think you and Cory have did better, more ambitious work with your games. Stig clearly likes to keep the story very focused on Kratos, which is fine, but I think branching it out in the ways you and Cory have both discussed would've been far more interesting.
