This is the game I directed/lead designed that is currently running on Playstation Network! The critics pretty much hated it but it has its fans and I am one of them! I'm super proud of this thing and I think it's a blast! Hope to see ya online while it's still alive :).
We've officially shut down The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency. I am almost certain it shall rise again one day in some form or another but at least as far as ver 1.0 is concerned, 'She's dead, Jim'. And I'll miss her. What a great team, a great company, and a great experience. Thanks for everything, Bartlet Jones! And thanks to Sony for the opportunity to launch our little adventure; y'alls faith in us remains so appreciated! Y'all rock!

My kid finally got a PC so her and I play this networked on weekends! She's in her room and I'm in mine, shouting to each other as we play! So much fun! :)

A quick question relating to your profession.
Now when you design a game do you (as a game designer) intend to create a game as addicting as it can get?
you mentioned earlier that R&C got the "pull" factor more than Uncharted, where the game pulls you to play more and more (and can't get enough of it)..
Do you guys (game designers) always intend to make games where gamers sit there for hours and hours playing continuously (e.g. Oblivion, MGS, GOW)? or do you do it in such a way where the gamers stop say after a certain stage and commence the game the following day (to keep the taste of the game, its value and experience alive as much as possible)?
This doesn't have much to do with the video but I read your post on the PS Blog and I'm amazed at the price of the new Twisted Metal. I think I would have bet money that it would have been $30 bucks. After reading about all the stuff contained in there I can't believe Sony is letting it go that cheap. Can't wait for the live action movies, if they are anything like the other early live action cutscenes from the old PSone games they should be good for a laugh :)

Camo and assorted other ingrates can keep their Halo, and other crappy FPS games. Me, I'll stick with games like Twisted Metal that contain an actually interesting story, great level and character design, and lasting appeal. I doubt anyone plays the Halo 3 campaign several times over. I could barely even stand to play through it on co-op once.

i am unbelievably excited for the new tm, with twisted metal being my favorite franchise aside from MAYBE God of war and final fantasy and i actually have 2 copies of this game reserved. one to keep wrapped forever and one to play the shit out of, however i have a question or two you might be sick of hearing. A) are you aware of how backwards compatible with the ps3 this game will be, and B) is there online play:? i have a 60 gig and the original head on had online so i'm not too worried, but reassurance is always nice. Thanks

This post is sort of going off of your last 2 posts regarding the "internet effect" where people are very aggressive or negative. I think it all has to do with the anonymous nature of the internet. In real life, most people can't express everything they feel. They have a certain standard that they have to uphold.
The internet is an entirely different beast. I think a big part of it is that most people see the text and screenames as just that, text and screenames. There is this disconnect between the person behind the name and the name itself. With that, people do not feel as restricted as they do in their real life. That, I think, is the reason for the internet negativity and agression that is oh so common.
Oh, and the pricing for Twisted Metal is fucking fantastic Dave. Kudos to you guys and Sony for making this happen. As a Twisted Metal fan, that is an awesome deal. I hope the best for you guys and can't wait to try your first game.

I also do not "get" the Twisted Metal games, but I do love Mickey Mania, GoW and CaC so I find myself willing to forgive those misdemeanors of yours.

I'm not a fan of driving games or the Twisted Metal series myself but I don't speak for all gamers. I personally would like to see you go back to more story driven games like God of War in the future, but if you're doing what makes you happy, more power to you. I'm sure it'll be a great game.
Dave, I can understand if he was talking about twisted 3 and 4 but never dare touch 1 and 2 of the series. I still have them and still play them once and a while.
but yeah, I hope it's another twisted game, but I doubt, I'm definitely leaning toward some new IP which involves underground street racing (as suggested by the Midnight Club 3 and Puzzle Quest purchase in a previous vblog).
(crazy thought) perhaps a crazy racing puzzle genre will emerge??? lol.

I bought a playstation 1 for Twisted Metal. I loved the playstation because of Twisted Metal 2.
I bought a PS2 specifically to play TM:B. I will buy the new TM on day one.
The day TM lands on the PS3 is the day I will buy a PS3. No other game has had the type of impact on my gaming quite like the TM series.

I'm a Twisted Metal die hard fan, In anticipation for the next installment for a next-gen console.
hmmm here's a concept: I think the series should continue to focus on character stereotypes and design! 4 example:
- every character should have their own customized mines.
-Thumper should be drinking @ the wheel and toss flaming cocktails behind him.
-Crimson fury looked like he was in the mob so... bodies should pop out the trunk causing disruption to steering...
I could go on for days but like i said I'm a Die Hard. Wassup 2 all the TM fans out der!!!
