I GO FOR MINE, I GOT TA SHINE!

Wow- what a great fucking concert! I have NEVER wanted to see the same concert more than once but dude, if Kanye West was coming back, I would SO see him again. The opening acts- for me- were just ok. I would have been VERY happy with just Lupe Fiasco and then Kanye. But whatever.

But the main show?!? SOOOOOO fucking good! I was always a big Kanye fan but now? HUGE fucking Kanye fan.

So what else?

Oh three things:

#1- GREAT to be back! Missed ya'll! :)

#2- See the upper right of the right side of the blog? If you have not noticed, I'm on twitter now, so you can follow my EVERY MOVE! It's kind of addictive...I was updating from the Kanye concert all night!

#3- I did an interview with The Escapist web magazine last month about a game we were working on called HEARTLAND. Never came out and this article goes into aspects of why. Check it out!

Ok guys- will prob. do a video post later today, so check back if you are so inclined!

Also, will be doing our first official live blogcast with Brady- the brand new editor-in-chief of PLAY magazine- end of this week. So watch for that too!

Talk soon!

David

Hey Jaffe! I'm happy you're back. Your blog brings me a lot of joy, and I appreciate your insights. I recently went back and downloaded the original design doc for Calling All Cars!, and I'm happy to see that the horrible myths of 200+ design docs aren't necessarily true.

Anyway, I hope you and your family take care and stay healthy. Have a good one. =)

That was a good interview. Sort of shows the practical side of the business. It also sheds some insight on no matter how right you feel something can be when it doesn't have that warm and fuzzy feeling there must be a reason for it.

IRT Michael T.

Watching the video made me remember how I got more involved in my hobby than the average gamer.

After calling tech support and working through my problem I not only had my problem solved but had helped Sony solve the problem in genral for many of their users.

Next thing you know I'm getting calls from them and invitations to do things.

I've never had a paid gig but it does have it's rewards...you gotta love this hobby. I could think of more useless things to waist my time on.

"I'm not only OK, but thrilled to be working towards a Michael Bay version of a videogame maker."

That is so sad =(

I think the videogame versions of Michael Bay movies are stuff like the Mega Man X or Tony Hawk games, around their ninth iteration. Which is to say, "products of questionable quality".

If the first God of War is any indication, I thought you were more like a Quentin Tarantino version of a videogame maker.

Heartland :(
That game would have been so amazing

fernan...well yeah, I do not want to make games that are sequels all day long...that is not what I meant. What I meant was that entertaining the audience has become my #1 and only real criteria for success...the rest of the stuff- mainly, in this instance, the desire to turn games into a political message delivery system- no longer appeals to me.

I read your interview on Escapist and I have to say that Haertland sounds like it would have kicked major A$$. I want to know is there any chance you might revisit this game after you finish with Twisted Metal on PSN.

Also if you do some day go back and make this game would it still be for PSP or PSN.

Also I got to say you are a great dev and this idea proves it. So I just want to know on a scale of 1 to 10 whats the chance of making this game.

Because to the way you would have to make very important choices to make in the game sounded really different and there are no games that sound any thing like this game.

So if this game never comes out it will be a loss for the gaming community.

Also when can we here more on your games you are making will they be at Sonys Gamers day or E3.

This is idiotic.

I think my Tony Hawk/Michael Bay comparison wasn't really accurate. What I meant was that, IMO, entertaining the audience is the "easy" part of any art form. Lots of people do that. The hard part is putting something extra in there.

I think that Devil May Cry 3 was a really fun game to play. It was entertaining as fuck. I had a blast with it. I also had a blast with God of War - however, God of War had a bunch of special, brilliant moments that set it apart from most games. To cite just one, I think the ending was fantastic, a rare occasion where the main character doesn't really get everything he wants.

I hate Michael Bay movies because they never go past the "entertainment" level. I think they're just popcorn flicks, completely forgettable. That's kind of the opposite of what you've done. On one hand, I was shocked by Twisted Metal: Black's story, and I was constantly awed by the characters; on the other hand, I can't even recall the names of the robots in Transformers.

I know what you mean when you say you want to entertain. I just hope you do a better, more memorable job at it than Michael Bay does!
