My new office...

Sitting at a Starbucks in Carlsbad, Ca while my wife takes a pole dancing class down the street. She's been pole dancing for fitness for like, 8 months now, and she's just nuts about it. And my God, it has transformed her body like you would not believe. I've taken a spin or two on the pole we got at our house and let me tell you, that shit is HARD! Now granted, I'm not in contention for World's Strongest Man, but hell, after just one spin on that pole, I was sore for two days. But anyway, she's there, so I'm here, working :)

We're back in LA for a wedding we went to last nite. One of the lead artists on the GOD OF WAR series got married. The wedding itself was personal and sweet and clearly full of love. Plus we had a blast seeing lots of the God of War/Sony Santa Monica team. It was tons of fun.

Then me and my wife went to the best Mexican restaurant in the world for brunch this morning...check it:

Mmmm....Panchos! If you are ever in Manhattan Beach, you gotta give Panchos a try. It is so good! And the chips alone are worth the trip!

God, it's been good being back in LA. Gotta get our asses back up here soon...I miss this town!

Maybe we'll swing by GATE OF INDIA on the way home so we can have Indian food when we're back in San Diego tonite! Yumm! Gate of India!!! :)

Man, I'm sitting here with the Sunday LA TIMES next to me, just begging to be read (LOVE the Sunday LA TIMES)....yeah, I gotta alot of work to do...already behind on the design...but damn, it's Sunday...what to do...Ok...I'll work for a good hour, then chill and read the paper as my reward! That'll do it!

Chat later ya'll!

Macs for the win, David. I'd be interested to know what applications you use regularly for working in the games biz.

Hi David,

I was wondering if you could do a post about what types of techniques you use for project management, collaboration, and getting things done in general, especially now that you're working at your own company.

Do you use something like Fogbugz or Basecamp? A todo.txt file? Sheets of paper strewn about the room?

I know you use Video conferencing and whiteboards for brainstorming, but how do you keep everyone on the same page and know what to work on next?

Thanks!

Wasn't that the Indian place that made several people good friends with the toilet? I don't think I have ever had Indian food myself, would love to give it a try sometime...well as long as nothing bad goes down after :)

I believe I have a challenger for the best Mexican restaurant in the world across the ocean here with Desperados in Nagoya. That place sure doesn't disappoint every time I go. It is so good.

V- I do have a good life, hell a great life. I am grateful for it, to be sure.

But it's tough because I want to be careful about projecting this image that all is always well.

But the thing is, it sort of is. But not because why one would think.

Ah, how to explain?!?

Comes down to this:

I got challenges to deal with, just like everyone else. To be sure! :)

I simply choose to:

a- not post about THAT stuff on my blog all that often...not because I am trying to paint a picture of a perfect life but because some of the shit in my life is personal and not for public consumption...
b- I choose to look on the bright side of things as often as I realistically can- and that I think makes a HUGE difference. When you step back and look at what you DO have and what DOES work in your life, it's hard to be all that upset...

Just wanted to clarify as I've gotten a number of those 'man your life sounds great' comments and I didn't want people thinking that there are no challenges in my day to day.

I hope that makes sense...

Thanks for reading the blog :)

David;
don't sweat it, everyone has challenges in their life. thats common knowledge. it's hearing about people's joys that makes life better. I mean, reading about everything that's wrong in someone's life will just invoke sympathy that they may not want. However, it's good to discuss things with you that are on your mind, like the one-console future, or gamespot reviews :P.
Just my 2 cents.

I've never been to either of those restaurants. I better get up to speed and check them out. I was wondering if you had any good links for a design portfolio? I am interested in having a second portfolio aside to my art. I've been tearing myself up over the decision of which i should pursue because I'm passionate about both. Oh, and nice macbook pro, do you like it?

You said you met many people from Sony Santa Monica Studio. Can you tell us any news from god Of war III? I'm sure you guys talked about it. Even a single sentence will do. I so want to know what's happening to the game Y___Y

Damn. You're luck to have a wife willing to do that. -_-
....and she's unlucky to have a husband that tried and failed.....just kidding. But if you do another Twisted Metal game, make a new character that's a pole dancer. Male or female.....if male, make them bad at it. I dunno. It'd be funny to see a completely laughable or out-of-place character or just a regular "joe" enter the contest.

Anyways, good to see that you realized LA is where it's at.
Also, Starbucks aren't that bad for an office.

I doubt if he involved, he can tell us much seeing as there hasn't been anything about it elsewhere.

So I'll do it for you.

Title: God of War 2 Sequel
Platform(s): PLAYSTATION 3
Developer: Santa Monica Studios
Publisher: SCEA
Release Date: Sometime after April 8th, 2008 and before the end of the world.
Other Details: It is being made. The story is basically already finished.

That's probably all he could tell you.
