hehe I'm right there with ya bro. I'm agnostic but I absolutely adore Christmas! The music, the atmosphere, the smiling faces; It truly is the happiest time of the year :-D.

I celebrate it anyways, kind of treat it as a secular holiday celebrating the joy of giving.

Anonymous said...

jaffe you continue to tease my cock with game updates, and now i have an urge to listen to christmas music.... damn you!

Anonymous said...

I'm Atheist...celebrating Xmas is something I could easily give up for something more patriotic. November the 5th would be a great holiday to celebrate with presents and stuff in the UK. I mean, it's not the most happy image in the world - Guy Fawkes getting thrown on a bonfire - but it's a national holiday, and patriotism over here is severely lacking, at least from what I see in the states.

I'm curious, how come you became agnostic (and at SEVEN? Jesus.)

Jack

David Jaffe said...

stOOpid...why come NO ONE ever writes and and tells me I tease their vagina? What the FUCK am I doing wrong. I bet this shit never happens to clfford B!

David

ps. Jack- I'll share my agnostic story some other time when I am not so swamped :) The essence- I was forced to go to temple on Saturday and I wanted to watch cartoons on Saturday- cartoons fueled my soul and I was like: what the fuck kind of God wants me to not make my soul happy?!?! So that was the start of it...at 7. :)

Hey Jaffe!

Another great video! God, you're so fuckin' hyper, it's contagious!

So what's with the hat? Are you at "that" stage, if you know what I mean? ;-)

David Jaffe said...

WHAT stage?!?! Shit, am I at a stage? TELL ME!!!!

Seriously...what do you mean?

Anonymous said...

David Jaffe,
You are Oh So Epic...
You are the Meatballs to my Spaghetti...
You are the Rafiki to my Simba...
You are the Gin to my Tonic...
You are the Hair to my Legs...
David Jaffe,
You are Oh So Epic...

Flattered?!?
...You better be!!!

Just Kidding
But for real you are one of the reasons I am going to college to be a video game programmer/designer.

Funny video by the way

Video blogs win. Especially this one. Hyper is right. And just the whole situation: Glasses, bucket hat and Christmas music... Made me laugh a bit.

I know exactly how you feel about getting in to the Christmas mood about this time of year, all the way up till the big day arrives. I live in Ontario, Canada so fortunately (Or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it) I get all the nice snow to really get me in the mood. Like you, I love the Christmas music, but I also really enjoy all the Christmas TV specials and movies that you'll catch on the tube during the holidays. I couldn't go a Christmas without watching Home Alone (1 or 2), and A Christmas Story.

To really get me in a silly Christmas mood this year, my friend and I have decided to buy each other really dorky Christmas sweaters (The kind your grandma would knit you with a big reindeer slapped on the front), and go get our Picture taken at some professional photo place. It's definitely an odd thing to do, I know, but it'll be fun and it'll get me further in to that epic Christmas mood. Then we can always look back at these pictures and say "What the hell were we thinking?"

On another note, about this upcoming game that may or may not! be Twisted Metal... You've thrown us a few hints since you first mentioned this upcoming game and although I can see you're really trying to push our thoughts away from Twisted Metal, whether it's because we all seem to be so sure it's TM and you want us to doubt ourselves so that when the big announcement comes we can be like "HOLY SHIT IT ACTUALLY IS TWISTED METAL!", or maybe some guys at Sony are saying "Stop making it seem so friggin' obvious, Jaffe," I just don't think you can sway me. I mean, on a previous post you gave away the first letter of this hidden game, which was a T, so that's something. Something small, but that's something. You've posted several papers with ideas, chicken scratch, and doodles that are supposed to contain ideas for the new game (Some of which can be read... faintly, or slightly more so with a bit of clearing up via an image editor). And lastly, just the way you talk about it. You don't want to mention any specifics 'cause people will know what it is. But I figure if it's a new game then a small detail here and there wont give anything away because we wont have the faintest idea what the game is. But if it IS Twisted Metal, then any small detail can give away the entire game. Hmm.

So I dunno man. Maybe it's too late to try to put doubt in to our minds. Or maybe I'm just being completely ignorant and it really IS a new IP or something. In which case this post makes me look like a complete tool. Who knows. Only time will tell (Or you, if you want to spill the beans early and get in big shit :D)... E3 can't come soon enough! :(

Long post. Wow. Anyways, take care, dude. And it's early, but Merry Christmas anyway! :D

David Jaffe said...

grynder- or maybe it's just cause I'm contractually obligated not to spill the beans till Sony tells me :)

I'd vote for that one- if it were up to me, you guys would have know 8 months ago what we were doing.

Hell, you know movies are being made 3-4 years out, why not games?

grasshopper said...

Damn David...you seem to be in a fun mood tonight...cool! Awesome V blog.

The game ESP is CURRENTLY working on MAY NOT BE TWISTED METAL. ESP has a three game contract right? So maybe this game they are CURRENTLY working is something COMPLETELY different. That doesn't mean a PS3 TM won't come out. Maybe they'll make a bit later. Jaffe is slick, you gotta read his quotes carefully.

Hey Dave

How about God of War 3? can you tell us anything about it ? you must know SOMETHING. come oooon lol.

take care

Dan

GrYnder McDuff! said...

Well I know you can't just outright say what game you're making :P

I just thought that there was maybe something behind what you're saying in this post. Trying to sway minds or something. :D

Awhile back I had to design some christmas card and to get into the spirit, I got hold of all the christmas songs I could get. After listening to them for several hour the memories of christmas as a kid came flooding back.

Honestly Jaffe, most "Christmas music" has absolutely no reference to Christmas or Jesus in them what so ever. Look up the lyrics to some of your favorite "Christmas Carols" and you won't find anything that stamps it to Christmas. It's just that we're all conditioned because retailers start playing those songs in stores by early November as they start their barrage of "Commercial Christmas."

Meanwhile I'm not of Fall fan because that means Winter is very close at hand, and Winter here in Michigan means a crap load of snow. I do love "Christmas Music." Especially if ya get the good stuff. Nat King Cole, Senatra, Trans-Siberian, and more.

As for the "tick" I think you always seem fidgety in your videos, but it's always something to laugh at.

Happy Christmas in... August Jaffe. You big weirdo!

TWISTED METAL PS3 ANNOUNCEMENT AT E3 2009 CONFIRMED

I wouldn't be surprised if they used this headline at Kotaku or other gaming blogs.

Keep up that happy Christmas spirit, David!

Ah man, those NDAs can really put a noose around ya in regards to talking about games in production. Blast!

I had a good laugh though of your vid and I agree, even as a agnostic/atheist/theist/eggnostic, you can still find solace in old Christmas music and the mood it sets for people. Hell, without it, it would just be another crappy consumerist holiday.

Speaking of that, get your gifts EARLY. Don't want to be stuck in the parking lot of Best Buy for 20 minutes. (Happened to me, not fun.)

Man I am going through R&C:Q4B right now. Tell us your thoughts when you are done.

Cool video Dave!

BTW, what do you think of the Kratos Sackboy they're making for LittleBigPlanet? Or Kratos being in Hot Shots Golf? I like the LBP costume better cuz you can at least make a level that would fit the character, but golf????? That just seems rediculous.

David Jaffe said...

LOVE all the Kratos love going around- be it sacktos (?) or golf. I was talking with one of the combat designers on the first 2 GOW games- he's now at Activision- and he was like: I would LOVE to make a game with that little Super D'd out golf Kratos...I would too. I think he looks great. Have not downloaded it yet...I should.

Hey Jaffe, I thought you said a while back that you were dumping that 'sludege' Diet Coke and trying to switch to plain old carbonated water? Anyway, you should give Coke Zero a try. It seriously tastes a lot more like Coke than Diet Coke, plus it doesn't contain any of that high fructose corn syrup.

Anonymous said...

good vid man....... and to tell you the truth i was chilling out to a wonderful christmas time by paul mcartney.... also any news on GoW3 i know your not really involved with it... or our you... idk but just wondering maybe a snibit or just something..

jaffe you continue to tease my non-existent vagina with game updates.

See Dave, look I edited it now you don't have that problem anymore! lol =p

you know about the diet coke thing, I dunno if it was you or not to stop me from drinking so much soda, I feel less bloated now, plus I'm sure the stuff rots your teeth too....

Hey Dave, do you update your Facebook profile, or is someone else? It lists your work, and at the very top it says: "Twisted Metal PS3 (Title TBA, Work in progress, late 2008- early 2009) (PS3)". Yes? No? :)

Anonymous said...

One of the combat designers left to is there anything left of the GOW team i heard of many people leaving.Hope the third one still turns out ok.Oh and your so random its pretty funny i love the holidays to though.

It would be pretty cool if Dylan Jobe and crew were working on a Twisted Metal PSN game with your help and input and you guys were making something brand new !
