...or something like that.

Finished the game pitch with Phil Harrison up here in Foster City and now I'm sitting around SFO waiting for my plane to board (about 2 hours from now). It's not so bad really, nice break from the last few days of rush, rush, rush. It's very quiet right now...a whole heard of people just got on a plane at the gate next to I'm just sitting here on the floor, cup of coffee in one hand, surfing the net with the other....check it:

Ahhh, Kotaku! My sweet, sweet Kotaku. Never lets me down with the goods...

MMmmmm, Burger King! Well...not really. I used to LOVE the BK fries and then they changed them about 12 years ago or so and they just suck so much now. BK sucks... that's SFO airport at about 1:55pm on Thursday Nov 8th. Or at least a little corner of it. My little corner....I feel like Tom Hanks in The Terminal...:)

So as for the pitch: I got the sense the powers that be dug what we were pitching, enough to let us keep moving ahead and exploring the vision. So that's always good. Plus, pitching is always fun for me and since I loved what I was pitching, it was even more fun! It's odd...the pitch was a big meeting room with Phil and then a bunch of Sony folks (all of whom I know, like alot, and have worked with for years)...but this time I was on the other side of the table, this time when we were done pitching, instead of getting to stay in the room and hear about the other games Sony internal was making, we (me and Scott) were asked to leave because we're not allowed to know about the unannounced titles from Sony 1st party anymore... For a moment it was a little strange because for 13 years I'd been privy to those sorts of meetings, to that kind of yeah, for a second I didn't like that feeling. And then it passed.

And then I was like: OH MY GOD! I REALLY AM AN INDY DEVELOPER NOW!!! And you know what? I fucking LOVE it! LOVE IT! I LOVED 95% of my years at Sony, no doubt. No regrets...nothin' but love for you baby/Sony....but now, now THIS feels right...I am so greatful for this opportunity...and I love I still get to be doing it with Sony. So win/win, bitches! :)

So all and all...a good day! Now I'm just really fried, ready to get home. Taking the day off tomorrow to go to LA with my wife. We get to get Indian food from GATE OF INDIA!!! Man, that food's like gold if gold were food...and if you could eat gold it's like gold food meaning it tastes so great and we love it....fuck off! I am tired!!!

Ok ya'll...that's all she wrote for soon!

ps. just got an email from Drew, one of the producers on the TM:HEAD ON port. He's at a focus group for the new, TM BLACK levels down in LA. He says we're getting 8's, 9's, and 10 out of 10 ratings for FUN FACTOR (the only rating I ever care about)!!! Man, that is sweet! I have no clue how many people buy ports and who is still buying PS2 games (I hope alot!) but man I think we've all done great work on this title. Head On looks great, the Lost Levels- if I may say so- are really fun, and I love all the bonus content. I hope people give us a chance! But either way, I'm feeling really really proud of the game the team has made right now. Great news from focus groups are always a nice way to cap off a day :)

Hey I was just at Kotaku just before I came here
Anyway I like the BK fries when it comes to fast food, its that or the limp soggy McD's fries. At least here anyway.
Good to hear the new levels are getting high fun ratings, can't wait to try them myself.

Hey David, am a humungous Twisted metal/God of war fan from India, I would love to have an interview with you for our tinny weeny blog called were the first ones to talk about perfect dark 2), anyway coming straight to the point here's a broad outline of stuff I'd love to ask you.

The videogame industry is burgeoning at the moment, so what exactly does a polished game required to have, a great marketing team and public relation personnel who can polish the shoddiest of games into platinum or a people with brains who value the term and phrase creativity.

The power of consoles is getting stronger by the minute, will this touted function of "Virtual interactivity" bring an end to the fun factor in games, and since this line between reality is merging and the idea of power to the users is being promoted will "creativity of a handful"(game designers like you) see extinction.

Name- Neelesh Mukherjee
email Id-

love to get an interview with you man, I know you are pretty busy and all but try and reply...

You know, there IS food that's also gold - if you feel like spending 25 grand on a dessert, that is.

Good luck on getting your new project ultimately approved by Sony - I'm sure it's a kickass design.

hey jaffe..

congrats on the pitch. i'm not going to lie.. i wish i could be a fly on the wall in that room.

hmm, i've been thinking about this random analogy, and i may as well just say it.

when you were a part of sony, it was like.. you were "MARRIED" to sony. now you are sort of... back to just "Dating". all the freedom of not actually living in the same house, and not having to be SO accountable.

and i'd say that lots of developers just sort of Sleep Around with whoever they can, they don't really develop much of a relationship with any console company, they just want to spread their seed. :p

rofl. so take that analogy as you may. haha!

im pretty stoked to hear that people are liking the new TM levels.. i really can't allow myself to get to excited until i get a chance to play them myself.

one move that might fuck you over a little is the new 40 GB PS3s that aren't backwards compatible. i guess those new ps3 owners are going to probably be less likely to pick up your game, unless they have their ps2 set up right beside it.

anyways. good luck on TM and this new game.. don't let TM come out until it is PERFECT IN EVERY WAY. we have to wait SO long for TM games.. it would NOT be fair if you rushed it out. (not that you would)

Fast food sux.

Wendy's ftw.

Good luck on your "project".

I just downloaded a game from the store, so ya for less than $10 there are plenty of us gamers that appreciate a good game.

Movie with my kids including stale popcorn and (more carbinated than) soda $57 for a matinee.

I'll certainly get Twisted Metal: Head-On for PS2. I've got a PS3 as my primary console now, but I still buy PS2 games also. I still buy games for systems that came out 25 years ago! As long as the game is good, it doesn't matter what platform it's on.

For that matter, I know lots of other people who still buy PS2 games. They'll be happy to see a game such as this on their system. There's no doubt in my mind that TM:HO for PS2 will be a success.
